Incidentally, for those who don't already know this, I discovered this weekend that John Cameron Mitchell (writer, director and star of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and executive producer of Tarnation *which I also did not know*) was the director for Bright Eyes' First Day of My Life video, from the I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning CD. wow, simple and brilliant. the video reminds me of Errol Morris in how it so directly shows people as they really are, being themselves. surprisingly it makes the video about us, the listeners, rather than some heroic rock star. Takes the poor me emo stereotype and turns it on its head.
