Surface
Sigh. I hate when I read negative reviews and gloom-and-doom predictions of cancellation for shows that I'm already getting hooked on. This season, it's NBC's new show Surface. Episode #3 aired last night and I am just loving this show! As a kid (and as an adult), I was always fascinated by dinosaurs, the Loch Ness Monster, and the like, and so a new series about mysterious sea monsters is right up my alley. I feel fortunate that I don't require a lot of "reality" in my movies and television in order to be entertained. It annoys me to no end to be watching with someone, only to hear "oh yeah, RIGHT! As if..." It's FICTION, people! To be honest, I hadn't even seen the previews for Surface and had no plans of watching it, but after hearing about the pilot episode, I managed to catch a repeat of it on the Sci-Fi channel. I'm so happy that I did. The casting and the overall "feel" of the show is great. I am particularly liking the fact that we actually get to SEE the monsters (and we're only into episode 3...wow!) Some people might think the baby sea monster "Nimrod" is a little cheesy, but not me...I think it adds an element of "family friendliness" to the show.
Since the show airs at 8pm, my 11-year-old daughter can watch with me, and I've come to really cherish the times when my whole family piles in the bed together each week to watch our favorite shows. (Lost is another one...you know right where to find us on Wednesday nights.) So I hope the naysayers will give this show a chance and stop spewing out negativity that might influence those who haven't seen it yet. And if you get a chance, watch it...and then tell all your friends how great it is. I'd really like to see this show succeed. :)

Say it isn't so!! I've decided that this is my new favorite - even to the point of giving up my Monday night meeting w/my girlfriends. I think the characters are incredible and it has me hanging on in every scene. Even Chris who is not a TV watcher is hooked. The holes in the ocean, the way the main people find each other, completely believable.
They could move it off of Monday and that would be ok by me but not cancel. No,no,no.
But they didn't show the skinny dippers at Lake Travis.
Location, location location. Its competing with Wife Swap, King of Queens, and Arrested Development. I would guess the 25 and under demographic would support it, but it has stiff competition with AD, another rating struggler.
it's called suspension of disbelief, and it can be a wonderful thing, especially in entertainment that we seek out as an escape from everyday life.
Speaking of which, did you ever notice how on Lost Kate has nice smooth underarms even though she probably hasn't had much reason to shave in the last 6 weeks?
Mmmmmm... Kate.
They even poked fun at it in last season's finale when Artz ask Hurley how come he hasn't lost any weight. (or something like that)
Hmmm... she does seem to be hiding her pits in this picture:

Oh john, don't get me started on that Rolling Stone cover. I have it on my desk, but had to put stuff on top of it so i'd quit staring.
But you know... i'm just not as attracted to her after seeing that phone sex commercial over and over again.
Difficult as it might be, I think I can find forgiveness for her in my heart.
I forgive you, Lily
